Planting Grass Sod
Planting grass sod can instantly convert a patch of ordinary land into a lovely lawn. Here are a few easy and basic steps.
First, choose the right kind of grass suitable for your area.Measure the lawn area in order to find out the amount of sod you will require. Always buy fresh sod from a nursery or garden center nearby, or you could order it from a local sod farm.Level the area and prepare the soil. The final layer should be an inch or two lower than the grade in order to accommodate the thickness of the sod.
You should not plant grass sod if it is dried, curled, or has cracked edges. You should always opt for fresh sod.Layer the sod along edges such as the walkway or the driveway. You can stretch a string across the center of the lawn in order to create a straight edge.
You should place the sod in such a way so that the ends butt up firmly against the edges, or a previously laid piece. See that the edges are as close as possible, without overlapping them.
If there are large spaces between the sod, fill them up with soil.Use a water-filled roller over it to make sure that the sod is in contact with the soil, and also to level out the area.
To ensure that the soil is thoroughly moist, you need to water the entire area.Until the roots of the sod knit with the soil below, it has to be kept thoroughly moist, without getting it soggy.
